Taking the driving test in the UK is a very important and final step in obtaining your driving license. The driving test allows you the opportunity to present yourself to the DVSA examiners as a competent driver who is able to drive independently to DVSA standard without making serious or dangerous mistakes. This will mean driving a motor vehicle at 60 or 70 mph, urban driving, mini roundabouts and roundabouts and dealing with other road users whether that's motor vehicles, commercial vehicles, motorbikes or cyclists. Therefore it is vitally important that a test candidate has fully prepared or near prepared themselves before booking the driving test. It is not the case of turning up on the day of the driving test and hoping for the best, or is it feasible to 'have a go and see how it goes', just for the experience. This is not only dangerous for yourself and other road users, but also for the DVSA examiner who relies on the qualified driving instructors judgment and experience that the candidate is in their opinion ready and competent to take the test.
Therefore it is imperative that you do not book a driving test unless you are ready or near ready, or have been instructed to do so by our DVSA qualified driving instructor.
Any test booked without the PRIOR knowledge or consultation with our driving instructors will strictly not be allowed to be taken in the instructors vehicle. A student is at liberty to take their own car, provided the vehicle meets the requirements for a driving test, ie correct insurance, MOT and L plates displayed and the vehicle is roadworthy.
For driving tests that are booked with consultation or not, we exercise our right to refuse to take the pupil to test, should we deem them to be unsafe to operate a motor vehicle independently. Unsafe, meaning the pupils driving includes what would be considered serious or dangerous faults. To determine this, a mock test will be conducted under DVSA test conditions. The outcome of the mock test will determine whether the pupil will be taken to test in the driving instructors vehicle. The driving instructors decision is final.

Good luck with your test.
Drive and stay safe.
